Panel designated Wall Panel 1 during the brief reconnaisance of Itzan in 1968 by Gair Tourtellot III, Norman Hammond, and Richard M. Rose (1978:Fig. 2) (zoom). According to Kevin Johnston (personal communication 2020), "This photograph was taken by Nick Hellmuth during the late 1980s when I was directing investigations at Itzan. This is one of two ballplaying panels erected in the site's central plaza. Sometime prior to the mid 1980s the matching panel was looted–its face was sawn off."
