The Red Mask II, Kohunlich. The masks date to the later Early Classic period (likely 5th or 6th century AD), and are exemplary of the decoration that once covered almost all major temples of the ancient Maya. The tau-tooth and fish barbles indicate that GI of the Palenque Triad makes up at least part of this mask's identity (photo: Stanley Guenter).
